1. Fall foliage is called “kouyou” in Japanese which literally means red leaves.
-Popular destinations for “Kouyou” are Nikko, Kamakura and Hakone.
2. There are many holidays in the fall in Japan!
-2nd Monday of October [Taiiku-no-hi (Health and Sports day)] – Various sports events take place on this day.
-November 3 [Bunka-no-hi (Culture day)] – Events are held around the country to celebrate art and tradition on this day.
3. There is a festival in Japan for children 3, 5 and 7 years old!
– Families with children of the ages visit shrines to pray for their healthy growth.
Children put on nice clothes, such as kimonos, dresses, and suits.
